SUSC Co-hosts Huskies and Revolution Alumni

SUSC co-hosted one of the top soccer games you will see in Saskatchewan over this past weekend.

The action was intense Saturday at Newsham field between the Huskies Men’s Soccer team and the Saskatoon Revolution Alumni! We had a fantastic turnout of close to 400 people from across the city to take in the action under the lights. The atmosphere was prime for a good old time soccer match on such a beautiful autumn evening. The game had an unrelenting pace, and ended in a 2-2 draw with a last minute goal by the Huskies! Big thanks to these two teams who put on an outstanding performance, and to all those that came out to take in the event!

Saskatoon United Soccer Club - SUSC co-hosted one of the top soccer games you will see in Saskatchewan over this past weekend. The U of S Huskie Athletics Men's Soccer Team and the Saskatoon Revolution Alumni, our Saskatchewan representatives at this years "Canadian Men's National Championship ", squared off in a fantastically anticipated exhibition game. Both teams host a wealth of local and outside province talent, led and coached by some of Saskatchewan's top coaching staffs. This abundance of talent was on display at NO cost for all to see, Saturday night under the lights and we saw a great representation from all of Saskatoon's Soccer Community at the event.

Elias Poitras-Whitecalf

Ever dream of playing soccer internationally?

This is the reality of one of SUSC’s very own players Elias Poitras-Whitecalf who recently played in the Baidu Cup in China, on a composite team of players from Saskatchewan, Alberta and China. Not only did he play in one of China’s largest youth tournaments, which hosted over 1000 teams, but he also came away with a gold medal when his team went undefeated in 9 games. It’s been an outstanding summer for Elias who also found success when the U15 SUSC Reds won outdoor provincials. Proud father Ted Whitecalf, who also helps coach the Reds, was with his son to share in the experience and bring back some great photos.

SUSC Summer Youth Soccer Academy

It’s been an incredible few weeks at the SUSC Summer Youth Soccer Academy at the Elite Proformance Sport Centre! Last night we had a special visit from the Huskies Athletics Men's Soccer team courtesy of Head Coach Bryce Chapman. Kids got a demonstration, some instruction followed by some game play with the Huskies! What a great way to inspire these kids to reach their goals. The SUSC Summer academy is focused on getting our youth’s minds and bodies prepped for the upcoming season. Motivation and inspiration are a key part to this academy along with a game based atmosphere that guarantees learning and fun. Thank you Huskies for the awesome evening. Go out and support the Huskies this season!

2018 Soccer Day in the Park

SUSC held it's Soccer Day in the Park on Saturday.

Great to see a nice turn out especially in the middle of summer break! Thank you to the coaches and board members for putting on this event. The local Safeway also provided bottled water for the kids, and each kid walked away with a SUSC water bottle. Enjoy the rest of your summer break, and hope to see you at our upcoming camp and academy!

2018 U9 Development Outdoor Program

This is a new program to recognize individuals and/or teams.

Our U9 Development outdoor program concluded for 2018 with an exciting World Cup finale! The kids had a blast this outdoor season and spent a lot of time with our technical staff over the last three months. Thank you to all of the coaches and managers who had a consistent presence with the program. Best of luck with your final games this week, and enjoy your break!

SUSC recognizes the importance of the additional care and attention needed for development, training, and supporting new parents, coaches, and players to the club. The development program is the first contact point many families have with the club, and when they feel supported and guided, it goes a long way to ensuring a successful future with their youth soccer experience. SUSC wants to thank Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc..for its support with this program!

We received many compliments on the Raffle Table this year so thank you to the SUSC teams, families & businesses who donated prizes for the raffle table to make it the tremendous success it was. Congratulations to the winner of the Soccer Player Lotto, Karissa Rowland of the U14 SUSC Comets. She took home $1548.50!! Thank you to the volunteers who gave up a small portion of their time to make a huge difference in the biggest fundraiser we run as a zone; your support did not go unnoticed. Thank you to all the sponsors that helped support SUSC in various ways. I would also like to thank my Tournament Committee, Melanie Litvenenko and Caleb Wiggins; without you I would not be able to do the job I do as Tournament Coordinator. I appreciate the time and dedication you put in for months leading up to this tournament and the weekend of the tournament; without you it would not be the hugely successful event that it is!!! Until next year…………….

Thank You, Lori Heggstrom
